I recently signed up for some literary magazine subscriptions and now have plenty of reading material (as if I didn’t already).

Subscriptions help you get published
Subscriptions help you keep up with the literary industry. You can learn about current topics and what sort of content magazines are looking for. Some magazines also give priority to subscribers when sorting through submissions. They know you read their content, so it’s likely you’ll have a piece that fits in well.
Support writers and the literary industry
Magazines are great, firstly because their content is amazing, but secondly, because they usually pay their contributors – their writers, artists, etc. The people behind the magazine as usually writers or editors themselves and know how difficult it can be to make a living by writing. If your submission gets accepted, you can make some money.
Purchasing literary magazines helps writers get paid. I have heard of some magazines where the team behind the magazine doesn’t get paid because they like to be able to pay their contributors. This is incredibly generous of them, but it also means the team is putting a lot of effort in without expecting to get paid. Help them by supporting literary magazines and the literary industry (like literary events!).
