I posted my first YouTube video this month! Well, technically it’s my second video. But the first is a short 3D animation project I had to submit on YouTube, so it doesn’t count. It’s not me standing in front of a camera and pretending I know what I’m talking about. There’s now a video called “10 Tips for Writing Worldbuilding” that covers the same points as my blog post with the same title.
BookTube
I’ve been wanting to join BookTube for a while, but I’ve been too self-conscious. Do I want to see my face and hear my voice for the entire amount of time it takes to edit a video? Not particularly, but I do want to talk about books. I want to share my opinions, have conversations with other book lovers, and spread my enthusiasm for reading and writing. Plus, because I use books in the videos I can feel less guilty about all the book buying I do. Kinda.
Channel
I’m not sure yet exactly what I want my YouTube channel to be. I have a couple videos already filmed, which I need to edit, and then they’ll be up on YouTube too. The next video I plan on posting has my bird on my shoulder because he likes listening to me talk. And because I love him. My bird, Percy, picks up what I say and speaks back to me when I’m not talking. Unfortunately, because I am speaking in the video, he’s not. But he’s cute all the same!
Editing
I had to teach myself how to edit using Premiere Pro, which took a while, but it should be a smoother and faster process now I know what I’m doing. I’ll remember to edit lighting and colour before I cut the clips. That definitely won’t be a mistake I’ll repeat. And I figured out how to make text templates, which will be a massive time saver.
